Massacres of Civilians in GUINEA

An independent commission of inquiry charged with shedding light on the massacres of civilians in Guinea during strikes in June 2006 and January-February 2007 is "blocked" by the government was accused Thursday in Conakry, the committee chairman.
"The commission of inquiry is blocked because of lack of funds frozen by the government of Guinea", told AFP Me Housein Mohamed Mounir.
He accuses named Prime Minister of Guinea Lansana Kouyate "to thwart the commission of inquiry." "It is the responsibility of Prime Minister Lansana Kouyate because it preserves the privileges instead do the job for which he was appointed," he assured. "He came, he allegiance to the president (Lansana) Conte, and that is enough to forget its mission," he said.
According Me Mounir, the Guinean authorities did not want the "tragic events of the last two years to be clarified."
In a letter to the Prime Minister and dated February, the committee chairman had a draft capital budget and functioning of 5,459 billion Guinean francs (900,000 euros) but the government had reached as 1, 5 billion Guinean francs.
